Springtime Splendor

In October, 2000, House Resolution No. 417 was adopted by the House of Representatives, and RESOLVED that the last week of April each year be designated Springtime Splendor Week in Michigan.

Springtime Splendor in Michigan is…

  • The best fishing of the year in our many streams, rivers and lakes.  The opening of trout season is the last Saturday of April.
  • Water is at it’s highest for terrific canoeing, rafting and kayaking.
  • Our beautiful forests come to life with new growth of wild flowers, world famous morel mushrooms, and baby animals reaching maturity. Birding is at its peak as the migrations are under way. This is an exhilarating season for nature lovers.
  • The many world-class golf courses are playable in April & May. The weather is comfortable, a lack of bugs, and available tee times at exceptionally low rates make this the ideal season for the entire family to take up golfing.  Low handicap golfers can work on their game in ideal conditions.
  • Sales abound for shoppers, and lodging rates are at their lowest.

Many recreational, historical, cultural and artistic activities and venues surround us in Michigan. Festivals and Events celebrate all that makes Michigan communities special.   The “Spring Break” savings are great for everyone, and It’s the perfect time to

SAY YES TO MICHIGAN … AGAIN, and see what you’ve been missing.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture is a supporting participant.
